New environment

I finished to make lesson power point/work sheet/lesson plants for week2. I had been concentrated on making it for a while so I am very tired.

I am very nervous to see a new teacher tomorrow. I hope he is a hardworker like a Japanese one. My colleague went back to his home country due to see his friend. We will have a meeting for choosing textbooks for the next academic year without him.  Talking about the text books, I need to make a summary what's good and bad to use the current textbooks.

Well well changing environment now.... ahhhhh

Day1: Job hunting.

Day1: Job hunting done. I took many pictures for CVs. Today's aim was to send my cvs to 2 different universities. I modified the CV and printed out them. These things were on my to do list for today. 90% done.  Now I realised that it is impossible to manage the amount of salary to maintain this quality of research.  I would like to buy books for my study. I would like to go to conferences and workshops. To gain knowledge and teaching techniques eventually contribute to students and the university where I have worked. However if I do not have enough or minimum financial resource, I cannot have better learning and teaching. So I have decided to find better jobs. According to the current university, they may consider to raise my monthly saraly.

My aim for these two years in this university is that to have 5 publications and 5 presentations. I have got 2 publications so far so 3 more to go. I am not so ready to move out from this university but I am getting there. Well well, I would like to change the place to teach by the end of the next academic year. These days I feel so uneasy to continue this kind of life. I sometime feel unfair to compare my workloads and the monthly salary. I am not satisfied with this salary. Someone told me that it is better than 0 yen but you know it is difficult for me to survive realistically.

Well well.....

Now, I would like to focus on making lesson plants. Week 2 !  Text analysis now.

TESOL certificate workshop in TKO.

A 5-Day TESOL certification course:

I completed the 120 hours TESOL certification lesson. Here come my assignments to read all reading materials. I am so excited to read these articles. I need to write essays in order to get the final certification.

One more thing. I would like to start my job hunting again. I have printed out my resumes and front pages already. What I need is my pictures.  I can handle a few additional classes for the next year. One more year's patience and then I will be a PhD candidate. I would like to be positive in order to gain many things during my stay in Japan.

TESOL certificate workshop in TKO: Day2

Day2:

Dr. R D from Keimyung, Korean was one of our lecturers for TESOL certification workshops in TKO.
Before he started his lecture, he was looking for someone who is the youngest one in the room. He looked around and found me.

He asked me " I assume you are the youngest one in this room. Don't you think so? "
And I said: "you never know. I might be not."
This teacher immediately asked me that " would you please make me a coffee ? Because I did not know how to make it."
 And I said, "WHAT?"

There are many things wrong with many different levels.
1)  I payed to come here in order to learn how to teach but not make a coffee for him.
2) The youngest woman in the community's job is making a coffee for a professor.... is it???
3) How come he could become a prof even though he cannot make a coffee.
4) If he were a older Japanese prof who asked me to make a coffee I felt it was okay but he is THE American who treats women as お茶くみ women.... I still feel so uneasy on his value.
 5) It was my first time to talk to this prof and he asked me to make a coffee for him. I felt it was very rude.
6) This incident is the gender discrimination, academic harassment and sexual harassment.

90% of the females participants in the TESOL certification workshop accused him;

They yelled at him " do you think does it related how to make a coffee and the youngest women ??" "How come you cannot make a coffee"

In conclusion, I thought that social norm in terms of females' making tea/coffee force women to make them inferior than men, which  happens not only in Asian countries but also some American males.

I still cannot believe what happened to me.

Same old same old ~~

Same old same old.

From today, I am having the official off duty: summer holidays. Washing my clothes and cleaning up rooms in this morning.  One of my room and a kitchen are clean. I am planning to read books and make lesson plans but I have little motivation to do for them.  When I stay in my house, I am lazy so I guess I should have used my office at the uni. Ahhhh... Anyway go back to study.

Writing lesson plans

Again it is my off duty. While I have been listening to London riots on BBC live news, I am writing lesson plans. Today I can use my time for myself in order to start planing lesson plans.
Last night I had such a fire: motivation to plan lessons but it seems like disappearing in this morning. Anyway what I need to do is that to make a fundamental plan and go for the power point slides. You know but I am still checking info on twitter and listening to BBC instead of using my brain for making the lesson plants... Hmmmm

These books are waiting for me ....I know I know.

Hibakusha by Ms. Hitomi Kamanaka

Hibakusha ~sekai no owari ni~

Some residents in Hanford , America's interviews were in the film. Both down winders and winders have been suffering from cancers. One of the scientists in the Hanford nuke power plants insists that there is no connection data and health issues among these victims. He strongly believes it, which made me very surprised because I thought it could be that he has been brain washed. He has been in the group and brained washed a lot. http://www.exblog.jp/blog_logo.asp?slt=1&imgsrc=201104/12/35/d0162635_13484629.jpg

Shineiken Conference in Aichi

2011. July 30th & 31st
During these two days, I was the committee member to presentations' rooms.
Extremely busy but I learned many things. My decision after the presentation, I would like to introduce topics are related with Okinawa US Army, Hiroshima atomic bombs, life and death, human lights through project style learning.  I met this teacher from Toyo Gakuin University. She teaches about Okinawa for peace education.

So where am I going? What do I want to teach through English ?
Intercultural communication, politics, international relationships.
